Architecturally designed and built by an excellent local craftsman builder in 2000, this house has sweeping views of the hills and valleys. Built using 2 x 6 studs, insulation covered with flakeboard, Tyvek and vertical spacer strips forming channels for any water vapor to dissipate; then cedar shakes and pine clapboards individually painted on 6 sides. The foundation is poured concrete: 10 inches / 6 inches above ground. The basement foundation has gravel, insulation, heat tubes and 4-6 inches of concrete. There are French drains surrounding the house and barn. The attached two car garage is oversized with ample room for more storage and provides easy entry into the house mudroom. Brick walkways lead to the front door and to the mudroom entry; an additional brick ramp provides handicapped accessibility. There is a roll out awning to protect from too much sun; the deck surface is IPE, a Brazilian hardwood. The kitchen, open to a dining area and the living room has custom crafted cabinetry and a large island. A 6 burner gas stove will provide cooking pleasure for any chef! Lots of storage in the cabinets and drawers. The living room with beamed ceiling and wood-burning fireplace with brick surround and hearth, has built-in cabinets and bookshelves and a door leading to the stone patio. A beautiful handcrafted cherry and ash staircase leads to the second floor. A formal dining room is also located next to the kitchen. The first floor study/library room with French doors, 3 walls of bookshelves, gas fireplace with tile details and a built-in desk area provides a quiet, private place for study or at home office. On the second floor are 3 additional large bedrooms, one with private bath. There is a hallway bath as well. Excellent storage space in all of the bedrooms, one with walk in storage closet. Large hallway walk in linen closets as well. Full attic is floored and provides additional storage. The full basement has a concrete floor with drain. The extra basement bonus is a wine storage room.
